CYCLE. SIP. REPEAT.

Founded in 2024, the UB Cycling Club began when a few regular Untold customers, with an affinity for craft beer, cycling and camaraderie came together to create a community that thrives on well-being, positivity and commitment. Sometimes we ride for a worthy cause, sometimes we ride just because, but we always ride for fun.

Last year, nearly 100 different riders took part in one of our weekly rides out of the Scituate and Plymouth taprooms, and this year we hope to increase our membership by welcoming you to join us on our recurring rides. All 21+ riders are welcome, however there are some considerations, so read on!

HOW IT WORKS

Rides take place every weekend out of either the Scituate or Plymouth taprooms.

Typically, the rides are held on Sundays, with exceptions for Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and special club events – which include the “Pour Decisions” ride (Brewery 2 Brewery) and the annual “Halloween 31” costumed ride (not to be missed!).  Last season, groups of 8-20 riders covered ~25-30 miles over the course of roughly 90 minutes. That said, riders of all experience are welcomed to join. 

Our goal is to offer route options with varying distance and average speed.  Each group will have group leaders/marshals.  And while the more experienced group(s) will require less supervision, the group(s) with new riders, or riders that prefer a more casual pace, will be considered “no-drop” events.  If you start the ride, you will have someone to ride with through its completion.  Again, this is about community and camaraderie! 

Participants will know in advance of each ride which route(s) we’ll ride on any weekend.  For those with cycling computers (Garmin, Wahoo, etc.), a GPX file will be available for download. After each of our rides (Après Vélo), cyclists are welcomed back to the taproom as their doors open to have a beverage and relax from their ride.

There is no cost to join UB Cycling Club, however - with that - any drinks/snacks purchases are the responsibility of the riders. That said, no purchases are required to socialize with the group afterward. Please note that outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome in the taproom, but no outside alcohol can be brought into Untold Brewing.

WHAT YOU NEED

To ride with UB Cycling Club, you’ll need:

• Completed the UB Cycling Club Liability Waiver

• Maintained road bike (no fixed gears, beach cruisers, etc.)

• Helmet

• Spare tire tube and tool kit (need one? Check out Whitman’s bikebarn!)

• Proper clothing for riding planned distances

• Water bottle

• Nourishment (gels, fruit, energy bars, etc.)

Joining the UB Cycling Club does not require you to participate on each and every ride. Show when your schedule allows and feel free to bring a riding buddy.

But the family-friendly short of it is, don’t give up.

UBCC is here to support you, cheer you on and help you however you can. No cyclist is left behind. If you need a break or a hand, someone will be there with you. All we ask is that you carry on and give it your all.
