Explore various sustainable farming practices including seed-saving, composting, seed-starting, companion planting, and mastering the art of growing your own salad and summer crops. Each session promises hands-on learning and valuable insights to combat climate change empower you in your journey towards sustainable living.

  • February 5 - Envisioning Your Garden: Explore and learn how to read a seed catalog to decide on what crops would be best for you and the space you have available for your garden. Learn how to evaluate the optimal growing space based on the area, light, access to water, soil type, and more.

  • February 19 - Seed Time!: Discover the materials, techniques, and types of early spring seeds and their requirements as they apply to the space you will start your seeds. You will also learn about managing germination and growth as you follow from seed to seedling.

  • March 5 - Companion Planting - Maximizing Your Garden Space: Looking to make the most of your green space? Understanding and fostering relationships in nature are incredibly effective ways to meet your gardening goals. Join us to learn how to use crop selection and mindful garden mapping to support the ecosystems that support us!

  • March 19 - Perennial and Hardy Herbs: Use your five senses to better know the many perennial and hardy herbs available to plant for culinary, medicinal, and other uses. You will learn about their soil needs, as well as how to plant and care for this wide variety of herbs.

  • April 2 - It's All About the Soil: Healthy soil is essential to foster a productive garden. Come explore soil at a macro- and microscopic level as we discuss how to evaluate, test, and amend your soil. Additionally, learn how to increase organic matter and soil fertility with compost and other types of amendments.

  • April 16 - Native Plants and Co-Existing with Non-Native Plants: Why are native plants important to your garden and the surrounding ecosystems? Discover what native seedlings are available to transplant and attract native pollinators to diversify your garden. And how can you better co-exist with the non-native plants? Find ways to better manage these plants and incorporate them into your daily lives.

  • April 30 - Climate Optimism: The state of our changing climate is having an overwhelming impact and can make many feel powerless in the wake of its varied consequences. As proponents of regenerative agriculture, we will guide you through the science behind recent climate projections and to explore actionable steps that can be taken at the individual or group level to help us be conscious and caring stewards of the earth.

  • May 14 - Growing a Great Heirloom Tomato: Tomatoes are a favorite summer crop, but also a source of frustration Learn how to grow that juicy heirloom tomato of your dreams. We will go through every part of the process from sowing, transplanting, trellising, and preventing pests and disease.
